03/13/2024Order/ProceduralFiled Order Allowing Appeal to Proceed. This appeal was taken from the jury's verdict in a personal injury action, entered on the district court's docket on April 29, 2022. When our review of the documents before this court revealed a potential jurisdictional defect, in that "[a] verdict of the jury is not a judgment of the court, nor is it a final determination" and appealable, appellants were ordered to show cause why this appeal should not be dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. Appellants timely filed a response, providing a copy of the district court's August 29, 2022, judgment on the jury's verdict. As the August 29 judgment constitutes the court's final judgment, it appears this court has jurisdiction. Accordingly, this appeal may proceed. (SC)24-09020
