On July 24, 2025, Leslie Mark Stovall filed a redacted answering brief, appendix, and a motion to redact and/or seal the brief and appendix. The filed appendix did not contain the anticipated proposed redactions, however, and on July 30, the State Bar moved to strike it, arguing additionally that the appendix should be stricken as overly inclusive and "immaterial, impertinent, and/or scandalous." In response, Stovall argued that the motion to strike should be denied as procedurally deficient but also stated that he did not oppose striking the July 24 motion and appendix with leave to file a corrected motion and appendix. Stovall filed a new motion for leave to file amended redacted and sealed appendices, along with the proposed amended redacted appendix, on August 7. Having reviewed the motions and the response to the motion to strike in this case, the court concludes the following. The July 24 motion is granted as to the request to file redacted and sealed versions of Stovall's brief, as the brief refers to information sealed in Docket No. 88997. As noted, the redacted brief was filed on July 24. Stovall shall have 7 days from the date of this order to submit the unredacted brief to this court, which the clerk shall then file under seal. The remainder of the July motion is denied as moot, given the superseding August 7 motion to seal the appendix. As Stovall agrees that the July 24 appendix may be stricken, the State Bar's motion to strike is granted on that basis. Therefore, the clerk of this court shall strike the July 24 appendix. The State Bar's motion is denied insofar as it seeks to strike the appendix as containing material that is noncompliant with NRAP 30(b), subject to further consideration of that issue contemporaneous with the court's review of the merits. Because Stovall's appendix contains the same documents subject to sealing in Docket No. 88997, Stovall's August 7 motion to file redacted and sealed versions of his appendix is granted to the following extent. The clerk of this court shall file, under seal, the unredacted appendix provisionally received in this court on July 30, 2025. With regard to the amended redacted appendix filed on August 7, the motion is granted with respect to all volumes except volumes 3, 11, 12, 15, and 17, as those volumes appear to omit pages that were publicly filed in Docket No. 88997. Accordingly, the clerk of this court shall strike volumes 3, 11, 12, 15, and 17. Stovall shall have 7 days from the date of this order to file and serve corrected volumes 3, 11, 12, 15, and 17.
